Let us explore the Islamic understanding of the evil eye, daily habits that strengthen spiritual immunity, and recommended protective prayers upheld by trusted Islamic scholarship.

Understanding the Concept of Evil Eye in Islam
The Prophet ﷺ said: The evil eye is real, and if anything were to precede (or overcome) divine decree, it would be the evil eye.” Narrated by Muslim.
The evil eye (al- hasad) refers to harm caused when someone looks with envy or intense admiration, consciously or unconsciously. From this perspective, dua evil eye protection becomes a necessary spiritual practice. It recognizes that humans can unintentionally harm those they love—even their own children—through admiration devoid of remembrance of Allah.
Types of Evil Eye in Islamic Teachings
- Hasad (malicious envy): Wishing for another’s blessing to be removed.
- ‘Ayn (harmful admiration): When one admires a blessing but forgets to invoke Allah’s blessing even though that blessing belongs to him.
